Homework!! (juniors, week 2)

Week two was all about houses, a great topic to start off with. Also, it's easier for the kids to talk about it, because at this age, they know a lot of the vocabulary concerning houses (roof, floor, wall, all types of furniture and stuff in the garden) so, this week was all about speaking activities.

The fun started when I tried to teach them some new types of houses, such as igloo, beehive or hut, and they had to make a presentation about it. Since they didn't know very much about such houses, it was a lot of fun to see what they came up with.

The igloo, by means of intricate Eskimo designs, has 3 floors (which, in the drawing, makes sense), and is very expensive to live in, because your house would look like it was made of pure diamond. Also, you would be required to bring a fridge if you were to move to an igloo. This is necessary to prevent food from freezing.

The mobile home (trailer) is approximately 30 meters long, but only has two wheels. Also, since there are no doors on the picture, you evidently have to enter the mobile home through a window. The device on the roof can unfold to form rotating airfoils, so that the mobile home can be moved around, helicopter-style.

Currently, I'm waiting for the classes to finish their first homework assignment: draw a picture of your dream house and write a story about it. When they have handed everything in (next Monday), I'll be sure to add a few pictures and stories to this blog.
